In research, our department primarily takes on a biopsychological-experimental approach. The focus of the departments research is on the influence of personal variables (such as personality traits, genetic variations, gender) and situational factors (e.g., stressors, cognitive stress) on specific neurocognitive mechanisms. For their measurement, electroencephalogram (EEG) techniques are primarily used. The current research has the following focal points:

Action monitoring:

A quick and efficient assessment of one's own behavior and its consequences is of great importance in everyday life. Our brain is therefore constantly monitoring our actions and its results, reacting very quickly to errors, negative feedback and behavioral conflicts. We examine the extent to which the neurocognitive processes involved are influenced by personal and situational factors and how this is related to interindividual differences in behavior.
